I am a woman who is a small speck in a small town just like any other. I have taken up Wife-ery and Mama-ing. I am a praying woman. Oh goodness, do I pray.
I am an Observer. I am a writer. Language, words….they are in my very bones.
I am a voracious reader of books. Fat ones. Skinny ones. Old and musty ones. New Kindle editions. I am swooned by classic literature from any time period but I have a special love in my heart for early 20th century authors. I have coffee dates with John Steinbeck, F.Scott Fitzgerald, T.S. Eliot, and Ernest Hemingway. Mostly Steinbeck.
I am a teacher of children. Children perpetually teach me…about people, about myself. I think it’s important to learn from little people.
I am an action-movie, adrenaline-rush-junky, kind of girl. On any given weekend you can find me skipping over the the rom-coms at Redbox in favor of The Hatfields & the McCoys or Inception. My Hulu and Netflix que is filled with zombie-apocolypse and crab fishermen. Don’t you get between me and my Deadliest Catch crew. (I live an intense life vicariously through my television shows. I’d like someone to analyze me on that one. HA!)
My playlist is heavy with folksy, bluegrass types like Mumford & Sons, Brett Dennen, Avett Brothers, Joshua Radin, and Regina Spektor. But I have a huge weakness for Queen and Led Zepplin. D’yer Maker, anyone?
I am an artist. I paint furniture every week. I color abstracts with oil pastels. Please note: I am artistic, not crafty. I think there is a difference. And crafty people are too good at what they do to have me lumped in with them.
I have a deep and abiding adoration for history, philosophy, theology, and psychology because they relate to life. And hence, I love museums and long winded conversations about human behavior and motivations.
I think out loud a lot. In the car. When I’m by myself.
I am a runner. I am a novice kick boxer. They are both like, totally legit and I love them. You should try them.
I am a minimalist. I’d rather have a bare house than clutter. I like for my home to have items with meaning and functional value. My sense of style is unfussy, but feminine and classic. Kate Middleton is like, my style icon ya’ll. Too bad I can’t talk with a British accent too. That would be totally groovy. But I can’t.
I love nature…flowers, trees. I like to decorate my home with colors that I have been inspired through the outdoors. I love rustic and industrial.
I am an eclectic, complex mix. Just like every other lovely person on this God-given earth.
